Mehr als 19 Millionen Besucher haben seitdem das Museum – entworfen von Frank O. Gehry – besucht. Dieses Jahr wird das Jubiläum gefeiert. Als wichtiger Beitrag zum sogenannten “Bilbao-effekt” hat das Museum nachhaltig das Bild der Stadt und der Region in der Welt geprägt. •
