Built between 1857 and 1858, Holmwood House is one of the most prominent buildings designed by Alexander Thomson.

200 Jahre sind vergangen seit der Geburt von Alexander Thomson (1817-1875), liebevoll „Griechischer Thomson“ genannt wegen seiner Hinneigung zu klassischen Einflüssen wie ionischen Säulen. Seine Gebäude werden in ganz Schottland in einem Festival gefeiert – mit Spaziergängen, Touren, Vorträgen, Publikationen und einem neuen Kunstwerk, das von seiner Arbeit inspiriert ist.
