The New Court of Justice, an emblem of the Grand Paris
A new contemporary architectural monument has appeared in the Parisian skyline. Located at the border between Paris and the suburbs, by facing out the building represents the will to decentralize the city and open up to the greater region.
From Clichy Batignolles, the 38 floor Renzo Piano building stands 160 meters tall and modifies the Parisian landscape. GA Paris regularly offers visits for architects and urban planning professionals to this first Parisian ecological neighborhood with a neutral carbon footprint.
A symbol of contemporary architecture for Justice
The structural work, started in 2014, is complete after advancing at the rate of one floor every two days. The current construction projects in progress include 50,000 m2 of glass façades which promote transparency and light according to the wishes of the architect, and the development of 3 large terraces with trees that occupy 10 000 m2 in total and will welcome more than 300 trees on the 8th ,19th and 29th floors.
A high-rise building in a city where height is often prohibited
The agency Renzo Piano Building Workshop (RPBW) is the architect of the project, which, carried out by Bouygues Bâtiment Ile-de-France, will be delivered in June 2017.
The “base” in the extension of Martin Luther King Park will host the courtrooms and the bright concourse. The “bastion”, connected to the “base” but separated from the Palace to ensure security, houses detention spaces. Three blocks in tiers, each opening onto a terrace hosting the “seat”, the “parquet” and “chair”.
On each floor hallways and offices will be flooded with light and offer an extraordinary view of the city of Paris. The terraces will not only meet the biodiversity plan of the municipality of Paris, but also include places for the staff of the courthouse.
The future courthouse of Paris, which meets the requirements of the Climate Plan of the City of Paris, will consume two times less energy than the recent towers of La Defense, thus taking its place in the exemplary achievements against global warming.
