Informed by an extensive research project, Dress for the Weather has devised an architectural tour of Glasgow that incorporates a selection of the cities notable pubs. Not just an excuse for a pint; this tour tracks the changes in pub design throughout the city against industrial growth, political pressure, social change and design tastes.

Starting in Glasgow’s oldest pub we will discuss how sweeping changes in the cities fortunes have impacted the city in terms of its urban pattern and the architecture of the city. We’ll explore different districts within the city centre and how they developed while comparing a variety of decorative interiors of public houses.

This tour is a great introduction to the city and we would recommend it be arranged for an afternoon or evening for an initial overview to the city, it’s buildings and its culture.
