Out & About. Discovering Architecture is a programme of public events and guided tours connected to the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – EUmies Awards –. Organised by Guiding Architects, the Fundació Mies van der Rohe, and Creative Europe, the series offers opportunities to experience shortlisted architectural works in their real urban and territorial contexts, through direct engagement with architects, clients, users, and local experts.
Guided Visits and Architectural Engagement
Out & About 2026 takes place from April onwards, following the announcement of the winning and shortlisted projects. Participants can explore selected works – including those in the Architecture and Emerging categories – through guided visits, lectures, and open-house activities with project representatives.
Architecture in Context
Out & About EUmies Awards – Discovering Architecture facilitates a closer understanding of architectural practice and enables direct encounters with buildings.
The next event is scheduled for 2 April: Temporary Spaces for Slovenian National Theatre Drama in Ljubljana.
Located in former industrial halls from the 1960s in the Litostroj area of Ljubljana, this project transforms an abandoned industrial complex into a temporary home for the Slovenian National Theatre Drama during the renovation of its historic building. Through a series of low-budget and carefully designed interventions, the project creates new stages, foyers and public spaces while activating a previously underused part of the city.
