The Island of Nantes, in the heart of the population cluster covers a vast area. With an area of 337 ha and stretching from east to west over a distance of 5km, the Island of Nantes, is the centre piece of the major reconstruction of its urban layout.
With a potential one million m² of buildable land still available, the Island is unique location within Europe and its development is aimed at achieving the maximum possible advantage. The collapse of the shipbuilding industry in the 70’s throughout Europe has made local authorities rethink uses for these now vacant areas.
